The 2012 sailing season has started, I make this obvious statement to make sure that all possible participants are aware and ready. I would also like to state that all results and thoughts are published here at our official “cyber home”.
Before entering into the reporting stage, we must welcome the Hobie Tiger corner. The growing “Tiger Fleet”, complete with spinnakers, have been informed of the “handicap” burden awaiting the first unfurling of a spinnaker, I can't wait to see it. Begafigo is the hotbed of cat sailing on the island now after all!

Also before entering the season's competition, a few rules - no real changes here but a general statement:-
1 The word of the self-appointed adjudicator (“moi”), is final!
2 The self-appointed adjudicator's word is final!
3 All appeals must be before the adjudicator on the website before the next racing weekend. (They will be posted and ignored!) but I am grateful for the input.
4 The self-appointed adjudicators word is final!
5 Any boat entering any race with the word “fatboy” in the name will be exempt from racing in minimal winds including intestinal!
Now, races 1 & 2 were run in a force 2 wind with 3 competitors - a reflection of the cosmopolitan nature of the club:- 1 home boy, 1 Russian and 1 Englishman. You were all probably getting ready for Easter or hadn't accrued the necessary brownie points, or had not bothered to read the calendar but CLUB RACING HAS STARTED!
Suffice it to say that the “Home boy” Eric had the best of the afternoon, with a 1st and a 2nd. The Englishman accused of gaining a few kilos had to be satisfied with a 1st and a 3rd. Sergey warming up slowly and fighting the jetlag!
Races 3 & 4 showed that the members had indeed started to read the calendar and 8 racers showed to compete, including the two “Tigers” still getting to know their beasts and leaving the 3rd sail ashore, but still stamping their authority on proceedings with impressive wins for Andreas and Demetra, Antonis and Vassos still getting to know their “Tiger”.
Now it is at this point (as a pouting loser) that some mention of wind conditions should be made. Now races 3 & 4 were run in conditions officially described as a “drifter”, non-fatboy weather, therefore unfair and no fun – for “Fatboys”!!
Here we go the new season.....
