A Summers Day Musings
As I sit before a blank screen on my computer and reflect on the past 10 days at Begafigo F.D.S.C - the mood swings, crisis and “incidents” come into focus.
I have been struggling many days now on how to begin to report on the 4.7/Optimist Cup held the previous weekend, and then, at last racing this weekend, inspiration has hit me with all the effect of a wet sock full of custard.
Last weekend the club was actually operating at full capacity, and what’s more, met all the demands made on its “bathroom” facilities. As our beloved Commodore and I would agree as we peered into the club’s septic tank late Sunday afternoon – it was a close thing….
However our visitors were not to know that and I think we got away with that one, The “honey wagon” has been and performed its duties and all is now as it should be. We have come an awful long way.
I can claim no input as I was away or otherwise distracted - (see “mood swings” mentioned above!) The committee’s organisation was near perfect, and the help from all the volunteers over the two days made sure that all went well. A precedent has been set now and there can be no going back.
So seven days later - racing….it’s been a long time…not really fatboy weather but the wind was there, short course racing – perfect, Now the scene was set. One win each for Yiannos and I – now honour rested on the last race. This is where the “incident” came in (see above). During the course of this race I decided to flush my sinuses out with a saline solution, much to the distress (or was it amusement?) of Yiannos and Andreas who could only see a pair of fat legs attached to a laser at full speed.
I maintain that all was under control it was just my six-pack has developed into a flabby 24 pack and the sinus flush went on a little longer than desired – honest…..Yiannos won that race…..
Fatboy.
