I am moved to muse after an eventful week, I am barely able to work the keyboard such is the level of fatigue that has overcome your muser!
The week got off to an interesting start with the news of “the pitchpole of the century” involving Andreas, Demetra and Gerry. Hopefully photographic evidence will follow. The Irish one returned from Bella Italia with tales of daring deeds involving hedges and motorised cutters. The main action was Saturday afternoon, races 13 – 15 force 5/6 with gusts, the muser was due to be OOD but Gerry volunteered but then found a crew – Nice….Still Antonis had lost his, and with a stern warning from Antonis’ better half that I had to do Antonis’s OOD I unwrapped the new centreboard (Which I got to know intimately) and the new sail (very noisy)!
The wind rose steadily producing an injury (7 stiches) in Michaelis’s head. Good going on a boat without a boom. Also, a straight capsize race with the commodore that the fatboy won! Must be the new centreboard and the improved grip….Apart from that small incident, things ran to the form book with Andreas and Demetra crossing the finish line first three times. The last time, and I am not sure of the timing, sent Demetra through the “window” of the mainsail. However Andreas did not see the storm clouds gathering…
The most interesting part of the weekend was an age old philosophical discussion, involving three people with much to lose - Andreas (already in trouble), Antonis (Claire, remaining very attentive) and your muser before the chief editor has read this very report. Suffice it to say that the conclusion of this discussion was that the toilet seat works both ways I.e. if you want it up – put it up. If you want it down – put it down. The male view of this is very simple…the female, well that’s an entirely different story…the Editor stands ready….
Beaten but unbowed
Fatboy….
