Musings on a Mainsheet - 3/3
It’s been 2 months since I was last moved to muse….This is because of the never ending battle between doing the things you have to do and the things you want to do – so at last an opportunity to get out and sail.
A last minute phone call from Black John, “what are you doing? What will you be sailing? I was ready for everything. Now the honourable sailing captain has been getting a grip on the handicap system and also the spinnaker on his boat. Antonis and Sotos likewise, and getting into rules and tactics after an interesting afternoon with a “Protest meeting”. Apparently reference books had been acquired and interpretations made, all very important steps in the advancement of club racing, racing is taking a more interesting turn.
Now the beloved Commodore OOD for the days racing announced that there would be 2 fleets as there were 3 cats on the water and some keen novice racers all eager to get into the mix. The mix causing the scorer a little extra book-cooking – no problem. The results of which after the handicap was applied made some interesting results, Demetris taking race 12 and Aris race 11, (fine capsize on the finish line Demetris!)
Still a lot of interest on the cats racing with Photis, Antonis and Yiannos with their respective crews crowding in on a short tactical start line – thanks OOD!
Now Antonis had fitted the spinnaker, Yiannos had the fabled new sail and it fitted! Photis and Kostandinos were both wearing harnesses….the wind was 3/4 now with the Catamaran Cup coming up at the end of August some lines in the sand were being drawn….
The spinnaker looks great…..
2 people on the wire looks very stylish…..
Yiannos just said – “Veni, Vidi, Vici”. (he is an educated man!)
It’s good to muse….
Even fatter boy….
